What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Comments and Account Login
We do not accept comments on this site; and do not allow members of the public to create accounts whereby they can log into this site. Thus, we store no personal data of yours for either purpose.
Media
We do not allow the public to upload images, files, or any other media to this site, nor do we make downloadable files available to the public. Thus, we store no personal data of yours for either purpose.
Contact Forms
We employ several different types of forms on this site, and they require your name, email address, and other personal info including possibly your phone number and social media profile or professional samples links. We do not store anywhere this site the information you submit, but the information you submit will be received in the email inbox of the appropriate receiving HFCS Officer and remain there indefinitely for archival purposes. It may also be seen by various committees (for example, the Scholarship Committee), or the entire membership at large (for example, a new member application).
Some members also make their email addresses available on their member profile; if you contact a member via this site, that member will have your information (from which point HFCS has no further involvement in the exchange of any kind).
If you make a donation to HFCS or sign up for any Friends of HFCS communications, we will see your personal information, and store it indefinitely for archival purposes and to contact you with any information you request.
Cookies
As most of the online services, our website uses cookies first-party and third-party cookies for a number of purposes. The first-party cookies are mostly necessary for the website to function the right way, and they do not collect any of your personally identifiable data.
The third-party cookies used on our websites are used mainly for understanding how the website performs, how you interact with our website, keeping our services secure, providing advertisements that are relevant to you, and all in all providing you with a better and improved user experience and help speed up your future interactions with our website.
What Types of Cookies Do We Use?
Essential: Some cookies are essential for you to be able to experience the full functionality of our site. They allow us to maintain user sessions and prevent any security threats. They do not collect or store any personal information.
Statistics: These cookies store information like the number of visitors to the website, the number of unique visitors, which pages of the website have been visited, the source of the visit etc. These data help us understand and analyze how well the website performs and where it needs improvement.
Functional: These are the cookies that help certain non-essential functionalities on our website. These functionalities include embedding content like videos or sharing contents on the website on social media platforms.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not share your data with any third parties except as required by law. We may share news of other individuals’ or organizations’ activities with you that we think may interest you, but we do not provide your information to them.
How long we retain your data
Information you submit as part of contacting the Society, signing up to our mailing list, or making a donation is kept indefinitely for archival purposes.
What rights you have over your data
Given that this site does not permit comments or logins by members of the public, and that information from submission forms is passed directly to the receiving HFCS officer, no information about you exists in the site that could be exported and provided to you. You can, however, request that we erase any personal data we hold about you in our mailing list, committee materials, publicity communications, or other offsite Society records. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Please be aware that this will immediately and permanently halt any processes with HFCS that may be underway, such as a scholarship or new member application.
