– We thank HFCS member James Clay for sharing this exciting event –
On a rainy cold weekend in February HFCS president Doug Harris and member James Cole Clay took to the road to visit some old friends and make some new ones within the Texas film scene.
First Stop: Dallas
Our first stop was to congratulate and deliver the TIFA award to the team at Cinestate for their work on The Standoff At Sparrow Creek, and enjoyed a spirited conversation about the state of the union regarding Texas film.
Next we had a lunch filled with laughs as we reconnected with old friends Tonya Polydoroff and Josh Reeder of Allied Global Marketing. We finished our press tour as we paid a visit to the esteemed Marianne Mitchell and her team at Moroch (pictured above). In our conversations with our industry colleagues, we discussed how to keep making our publicity communications operate smoothly.
Next Up: Austin
After a good night’s sleep it was back on the road, this time to Austin, where we had the chance to meet up with another member of the creative side of the industry. There we met filmmaker Andrew Bujalski, and delivered to him his TIFA Visionary award as writer/director of Support the Girls.
We discussed independent filmmaking and what is driving him creatively, and learned that his next project is as screenwriter of Disney’s remake of Lady and the Tramp (who’d have thought – the multifaceted creative force at work!).
