Better late than never, right?
The Covid pandemic may have prevented the Houston Film Critics Society from going to the movies (physically) or holding its annual awards presentation in front of a live audience, but it is not going to prevent us from doing a montage, baby!
Always a visual treat, HFCS’ Travis Leamons has been delivering a “Year in Review” opener for several years, and was even acknowledged by legendary filmmaker and producer Roger Corman for his editing skills at last year’s awards show.
Even in the midst of a pandemic nothing was going to break his stride (or slow him down, oh no) with making another opening sizzle reel.
Featuring visuals from HFCS award winners “Nomadland,” “Promising Young Woman,” and countless others, and the musical stylings of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, John Carpenter, and Robert Glasper (“The Photograph”), 2020’s Year in Review celebrates a year in cinema the likes we’ve never seen in our lifetime.
