To our film industry friends and colleagues:
Our membership met on June 13, 2021, and approved this schedule for 2021 Awards consideration:
- Films that are released in the U.S. by December 31, 2021, will be considered for 2021 awards, if access to these films in theatres or via screeners/screening links has been provided to HFCS members.
- Consequently, December 31, 2021, should also be considered the screening deadline. However, the HFCS requests the cooperation of studios and publicists to ensure that films are available with sufficient time for responsible viewing and critique, especially in light of the recent, limited access to current releases which some of our members have experienced.
Nomination Ballots will be due from members on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Nominations will be announced on Wednesday, January 5, 2022
Final Ballots from Members will be due on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Our annual awards show is scheduled to return on the evening of Saturday, January 22, 2022, at which time the names and titles of our winners will be revealed.
Update Dec 2021: The awards show will take place on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Tickets are now available.
A formal press release will be distributed on January 23, 2022 Sunday, February 20, 2022.
For the HFCS Texas Independent Film Awards, these guidelines/deadlines will be in effect:
For consideration as a TIFA nominee, a film may be either documentary or narrative but must be of feature length, independently financed, and with its majority content filmed in Texas (shot in Texas vs. set in Texas). It is not required to have been picked up by a major distributor though it certainly may be or may go on to be in a later year. However, films may be submitted only once for consideration.
The final deadline for submission is October 31, 2021. Films may be submitted either via physical DVD or electronic link with enough for each member of the nominating committee.
The HFCS Nominating Committee will have until November 29, 2021, to review the nominated films and select the five (5) finalists.
Nominations will be announced via press release on December 7, 2021. Links to the nominated films will be provided to HFCS members that same day.
A special ballot to determine the two TIFA winners will be issued on Monday, December 27, 2021, with voting to be completed by Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
- The announcement of the winners, if not showcased in a TV broadcast like the 2021 version, will be incorporated into the HFCS awards show on Saturday, January 22, 2022 Saturday, February 19th.
